Office of Student Retention and Involvement

Co-curricular activities are provided for student and leadership development as well as the enhancement of classroom learning. Student participation in co-curricular activities contributes to the overall development of the student.

In order for student leaders to be most effective, a workshop series educating students on Parliamentary Procedure and organizing and implementing meetings are offered. Specialized workshops detailing the expectations of executive officers in each club and organization are conducted at the beginning of the fall semester. Check this page for the workshop schedule.

For more information, please contact Sean Smith, coordinator of leadership development, at ssmith@prairiestate.edu.

Students are encouraged to attend leadership conferences to further develop their skills and teach them how to translate these skills while performing service learning or while working. In the past, students have attended the Association of Campus Activities Administrators (ACAA) Leadership Conference, American Student Government Association Midwest conference, National Conference on Student Government, Phi Theta Kappa International Convention and several other local conferences.
