Sexual Responsibility Week
For Sexual Responsibility Week (February 8-14), peer educators had a table set up in the Atrium in order to promote the free HIV testing on campus during the Black History Month Health Fair. Students also were provided with free condoms and information on safer sex practices.
Black History Month Health Fair
The Black History Month Health Fair, co-sponsored by Ingalls Health System and Aunt Martha’s Healthcare Network, on Wednesday, February 11 was a huge success! The College community was able to find out information about different health issues that affect the African American community and the local healthcare resources that are available in the surrounding area. Health screenings – HIV testing, diabetes screenings, and blood pressure tests – were also provided. A grand prize of a $100 gift card and many other great prizes – such as restaurant certificates, movie passes, and entertainment passes – were raffled off to the attendees.
This event would not have been possible without the organizations that were in attendance:
- Addiction Recovery Center – Ingalls Memorial Hospital, Harvey
- American Cancer Society, Tinley Park
- Aunt Martha’s Healthcare Network, Chicago Heights
- Cook County Public Health Department
- Doctor Tisa Morris-Christian – Friendly Family Medical Center, Inc., Frankfort
