Enriching Experiences

Many of our faculty enjoy teaching courses in our Honors Program. Representing a variety of academic disciplines, these courses become as challenging and stimulating to professors as they are to students. Interdisciplinary courses have the added bonus of fostering the rich learning community found on campus.

Honors classes have a maximum of 18 students who like to dig deep, study to learn instead of cram for an exam and exchange ideas through lively class discussion. Courses include Biology, Communication, English, Humanities, Philosophy, Physical Science, Political Science, Psychology and U.S. History.

Prairie State College participates in a lively professional exchange through the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs (ICISP). Since the Fall of 1998, the College has hosted educators from the Netherlands, England and Finland. The College has sent faculty members and administrators to Europe to observe teaching and administrative methods. The ICISP also sponsors curriculum workshops and sends students to study in England, Austria, the Netherlands and Costa Rica.
