POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic instructor who can provide leadership for one of the best Photography Programs in the region and continue its tradition of excellence. The successful candidate will be interested in working collaboratively with department colleagues on curriculum and assessment, recruiting students into the program, and maintaining relationships with the professional community. Applicants should have experience both teaching and working as a professional photographer. Teaching responsibilities will include Introduction to Photography, History of Photography, and upper level Photography classes. Candidates must submit a digital portfolio that includes 20 examples of their work and 20 examples of student work in jpeg format. Portfolios may be emailed (8MB maximum attachment size) or submitted on a CD or DVD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.F.A. or M.A. in Photography plus two years experience as a professional photographer.
- Two years of college teaching experience.
- Expertise in both traditional and contemporary photographic practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.F.A. in Photography.
- Five years of teaching experience.
- Significant experience with both commercial and fine arts photography.
- Knowledge and experience in fine art and commercial photography, black and white and digital processes, Photoshop, Lightroom, and digital printing.
- Ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in Photography, including History of Photographyand perhaps occasional sections of 2-D Design and Art Appreciation.
- Experience working with culturally and intellectually diverse students.
- Ability to use diverse teaching methods, including computer technology and online learning systems like Blackboard.
- Experience using and maintaining photographic equipment, studios, and labs.
- Experience with program assessment.
- Willingness to eventually serve as program coordinator and help recruit new students.
- Collaborative spirit and eagerness to work with colleagues across several disciplines.
- Regional/national exhibition record.
