POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a dynamic Chemistry instructor who can communicate effectively with a diverse population of students that includes both science majors and new Chemistry students. The person chosen for this position will teach general Chemistry, work on curriculum development, and collaborate with colleagues in the natural sciences on the assessment of student learning and other projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Experience using technology in the classroom.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching chemistry, especially at a community college.
- Interest in collaborating with colleagues in a small physical science department that offers a broad range of courses.
- Experience working with culturally and intellectually diverse students.
- Ability to use diverse teaching methods, including computer technology and on-line learning systems such as Blackboard.
- Interest in developing and teaching hybrid and on-line courses.
- Experience using and maintaining chemical instrumentation, equipment, and materials.
- Interest in pedagogy and familiarity with outcomes assessment.
- The ability to teach Organic Chemistry is a plus.
- Graduate work beyond the Master's.
