Alisa Shortell
Head Coach
|
After serving as the Prairie State College women’s soccer assistant coach for one season, Alisa Shortell was elevated to head coach after the 2009 campaign.
Shortell’s PSC career dates back to 2006 when she was a member of the Pioneers’ inaugural volleyball team. Highlighting her two-year volleyball stint was making the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team in 2007.
In 2008, Shortell’s focus shifted to soccer. Since Prairie State did not field a team that season, Shortell played at South Suburban College in the fall before transferring to Illinois State University in the spring.
Shortell spent one semester at ISU and returned to PSC in 2009 to take over as the assistant coach of the women’s soccer program, which was competing for the first time in nearly a decade. Shortell assisted David Spataru, who also doubled as the head coach of the Pioneers’ men’s team.
Prior to her collegiate career, Shortell was a three-sport standout in soccer, volleyball and bowling at Rich South High School. She etched her name in the school record book when she bowled a 283. Along with sports, Shortell also was a member of the honor roll and National Honor Society.
Shortell is in the process of completing her bachelor’s degree at Governors State University. She lives in Steger. |
