PSC FALLS IN SEASON-OPENER
SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill.
— Despite an eight-hit attack, the Prairie State
baseball team dropped a 7-1 decision to local rival South Suburban
College Wednesday afternoon in its season-opener.
The Pioneers (0-1) received a pair of two-hit efforts from sophomore
shortstop Dave Pellack (Lincoln-Way East H.S.) and sophomore second
baseman Tim Storrs (Shepard H.S.).
Prairie State, trailing 3-0, plated its lone run in the top of the
fourth when Storrs singled home Pellack, who had doubled earlier in the
frame.
South Suburban plated three runs in the first and two in the fourth,
while recording single tallies in the fifth and eighth.
Other Pioneers who recorded hits included sophomore center fielder Dave
Plocharczyk (Shepard H.S.), freshman right fielder Tom Lally (De La
Salle Institute), freshman catcher Adam Boyer (Reavis H.S.) and
sophomore left fielder Joe Malia (Peotone H.S.).
