College Success Seminars

College Success Seminars

One feature that makes Prairie State College’s E=MC2project unique is the academic component that connects PSC students to African American male faculty in the classroom.

Man Up! is a College Success Seminar created and taught by four African American male faculty.  Students learn about the challenges and choices they face, not only as college students, but as men of color.

A second College Success Seminar, Brothers and Scholars, is being offered in spring of 2010 to compliment Man Up! and serve as a subsequent classroom component. The Brothers and Scholars seminar will foster a learning environment centered on brotherhood, scholarship, civic engagement, and self-improvement. These seminars will be linked with other courses taught by African American male faculty.
