Prairie State College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is a member of the North Central Association. The College has been accredited since 1965, and was last awarded accreditation in 1998. This year, the College must successfully complete the process of re-accreditation in order to maintain good standing with the Commission.
The re-accreditation process requires that the College faculty and staff engage in a self-study and prepare a written report of our findings in accordance with the Commission’s expectations. The Commission has established five broad Criteria for Accreditation (PDF):
Over the last two years, the College has been engaged in a process of introspection and self-analysis designed to discover and collect evidence of fulfilling each of these Criteria. The results of this self appraisal are collected in a single document, our Self Study for Re-Accreditation. This document demonstrates the ways that we meet established standards with respect to overall institutional quality and identifies challenges which face the College along with the initial steps to be taken to address those challenges.
We invite you to review the Self-Study for Reaccreditation report.
